Hi there
I have a (6-7 year old) Sony Vaio SZ which I run Fedora 14 on. Fedora 14 cannot autodetect the webcam on the laptop.
Laptop: Sony Vaio cpu 2.1 ram 2Gb OS: Fedora 12 32-bits Gnome.
As my Ricoh webcam (r5u870) wasn't included in the supported webcam by the new fedora, I installed the r5u870 firmware manually, and edited the webcam in skype config to resolution 640x420 to have a nice image in video conferences.
Hi i am using CentOS 6.3(kernel 2.6.32.279.1) on my hp pavilion dv6226tx which has the following webcam( on lsusb command):Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05ca:1810 Ricoh Co., Ltd Pavilion Webcam [R5U870]
I have googled all over, and checked every forum I could find, including this one. Yes there are tons of posts about this, but every link to all the drivers are broken. So I guess I'll create a new thread and get some fresh responses.
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-CR220E with a built in webcam, when I partitioned my drive and installed Ubuntu 9.04 (now 9.10) the webcam has not worked.

Hi all,
A friend of mine once shared a script to download 945 tux avtaars from the web. I found it today during a routine cleanup of my disk. I'm posting the script here to share with you all with permission from the writer. All credits for the script goes to Rohit aka "Stuntdawg"
Not till few days ago I upgraded to Ubuntu 9.10..
I started Ekiga to check the Webcam's functionality, it gave some very weird video output! White and Black, zoomed in to an upward position of the main frame, plus it streams a wavy picture output..
On Cheese and aMSN, the output was pretty neat but in Black and White..
