I am connected to the internet with an ethernet cable to a university network, no router involved. Yesterday the connection was working fine, usually after each boot I am prompted to enter a username and password to connect. Today my computer won't connect, it doesn't even get to the login screen.

Hi,
I am trying to create a wifi network based around my ubuntu laptop with my iphone 3g tethered to it by usb cable for an internet connection. I would like to be able to share this internet connection with other devices that connect to this network and and perform various other network functions between devices on this network such as smb file sharing and ssh.
I do not have a tethering plan and I know about creating a new APN with the epc, but when I go into my Mobile Hotspot to do the tethering to my iPad, it says Error under the words Mobile Hotspot after I turn it on (I can still connect to the Internet on my phone with this error message)

Hello,
I'm new to the forum, and I've tried to get this working on my own, but I'm stumped and am hoping someone out there can help me out.
I just bought a shiny new Nexus 7 tablet and would like to tether it to my Galaxy S III phone. I'm currently on a pay as you go plan on my phone where I have an "internet browsing" plan (via SpeakOut).
I am trying Ubuntu on a trial basis to see if I think I could use it in place of Windows. One of the things I can do in Windows is connect my XP laptop thru a wireless access point which is connected by ethernet cable to my desktop, which is set to share its internet connection. The desktop connects to the internet by dialup.
For some reason, when I tether my phone's Internet it works fine for a moment or a long time and then it switches to limited connectivity. No Internet connection on any of the connected devices, even if I reset the connection. Only restarting my phone seems to work.
Using stock Android 4.0.4 and the stock tether.
Has anybody else experienced this? Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.
