http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi guys, Currently our windows 2000 server provides Active Directory,DNS and DHCP services for my small office network. Also there is an ubuntu server 10.04 that provides samba, proxy (squid) and firewall (shorewall) for the whole network. The windows 2000 server has being giving a lot of problems regarding performance and service availability (it fails almost every day) so I want to move all of the services the Windows Box provides to my Ubuntu Box (which runs perfectly atm :D) I have succesfully setup the DHCP server on the ubuntu machine (I set it as authoritative), although I haven't d (Hardware)

I have a small network running Windows 2008 where the DHCP service on the domain controller fails every two weeks. The resulting error is Event ID 1059 and the Event Viewer message is:

"The DHCP service failed to see a directory server for authorization."

The setup features two domain controller and the usual services and roles (file, print, Exchange).

I will be building a new server for a small network of Windows XP and Windows 7 machines.

I have a small local network , with few desktops and one server . The server machine has UBUNTU 12.04 server 64 bit installed on it. Some of the desktops are windows , one is Mac and others are ubuntu . What I am trying to accomplish is to create a local DNS server for my network and DNS server would be present on the server machine.
