Hello all,
Since i've came on linux, i know that XFCE is my favorite desktop environment. I really love this simplicity, this speed etc.
But their is one thing poisoning my life, the absence if proxy manager...
I know there is a command to set a proxy (export http_proxy=<proxy>:<port>).
I need to set the system-wide proxy for a specific user. I can set the proxy for myself when i am logged in as a normal user, I just run the gsettings command in the shell and i am done, i set my proxy. But i want to use the same command so that i can set my proxy but as root. Is this possible. The code is this:
gsettings set org.gnome.system.proxy mode 'auto'
I am on a 12.04 system.
Alright, so basically what I need is for the terminal to use a SOCKS (version 4) proxy.
Hi all,I'm trying to channel all my traffic through tor but KDE doesn't seem to recognize my proxy settings. To set up the proxy, I went to System Settings -> Network Settings -> Proxy -> Use manually specified proxy configuration and set the value of SOCKS proxy to socks://localhost, PORT to 9050.
I am trying to get wget running behind a proxy. Since Ubuntu didn't support providing authentication information for the proxy (the one in the system settings), I had to use a ntlm proxy (in my case, I use cntlm). In the network settings I have set the proxy to 127.0.0.1:3128, which works fine for Chrome. APT has its own configuration file, where I've also set the proxy to 127.0.0.1:3128.
Well, all I ever wanted was to download and install an application from the terminal.
And to my surprise I just can't I tried to reset proxy of the terminal by some commands but it doesn't happen and automatically switches back to this proxy 172.16.0.16 (which apparently was my college proxy). I checked in my system settings too..
I have just installed Fedora 12 and I'm using KDE 4.3.4 as Desktop manager : everything works fine except for the proxy settings. In System Settings, under Network settings I choose "Manually specify the proxy setting", fillin IP and port for the proxy.
Hello,
I'm from Romania, and I'm new to your community.
Normally I do not write into forums because any thing can be found on the internet but I'm a little stuck with a problem.
In the network I work, there is a proxy server (10.1.1.1) used to access the internet.
