Ubuntu Studio is a multimedia editing/creation derivative of Ubuntu. It is built for audio, video and graphic enthusiasts or professionals. But as it is free and open-source, everyone is free to use. Hello everyone,
I have a constant problem that appears on every kernel that I customize, though I can`t understand why.
At "stock" Ubuntu 9.10 the latest ubuntu-made kernel is 2.6.31-21,and as you know - the latest stable is 2.6.33.1 and the latest unstable is 2.6.34-rc2.
I am very enthusiastic about new kernel,so I try to keep my system updated.
Ubuntu Studio, a multimedia editing/creation flavor of Ubuntu, has reached version 12.04.2 LTS along with the other distros in the series.
The Ubuntu Studio developers have stated that they are very proud of the sheer number for changes and new features added in this latest version, making this release the best one as of yet.
Highlights of Ubuntu Studio 12.04.2 LTS:
• A lowlatency kernel
I'd like some clarity on versions in various installations. Under a fully-updated sid netinstall and a fully-updated Waldorf (sid) installation, thunar is version 1.2.3 and the kernel is version 3.2.something. Under Xubuntu 12.10 i386 Live, thunar is 1.4.0 and the kernel is 3.5.something.
After installing ubuntu studio 12.04 (latest till date), I found that it uses a low latency kernel. I searched why and how to change back to realtime or generic ones. But, looks like this part of linux hasn't been covered so much.
Q: Why to choose low latency kernel over generic or realtime ones?
P.S:L I have already read the answers from this question and this ubuntu post.
Some weeks ago I updated to Linux kernel version 3.3 because Radeon Audio HDMI wasn't working on my laptop.

This brief tutorial will show you how to upgrade to the latest Firefox updates in Ubuntu Lucid. By default Firefox comes pre-installed in Ubuntu, but updating your system won’t get you the latest Firefox version, because it gets updated incrementally through Ubuntu update cycles.
