Just recording this in case someone else out there has this same problem. In short, my old solution for getting my specific wireless usb device to work with Ubuntu 10.04 ended up blocking my wirless connection when I upgraded to 12.04.1. Removing part of that old solution solved it.
I have an ALFA brand 802.11n USB wireless dongle for my desktop.
I have a Trim-Slice Value using Ubuntu 11.04. It comes with a Ralink RT5370 802.11n WiFi dongle.
When I plug the dongle in, it does not 'just work'; ifconfig and iwconfig do not show the device, though lsusb does show the device listed:
phrogz@trimslice:~$ lsusb | grep Ralink
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 148f:5370 Ralink Technology, Corp.
Hey guys, in some other thread i had problem with cracking wep, and anything i did nothing worked, any trick, anything,.. after almost giving up i found out that the problem is in the hardware, in the wireless usb adapter SignalKing chipset RALINK 3070.
I have installed Ubuntu 11.04 on my Acer Aspire 4349 with AR9485 wireless network adapter. The wired connection works fine, but I can't connect to wireless. The enable wireless tab is not listed on the network manager. Please help me with this.
Thank you.
Hello
I have a little Aspire One net book, and have just installed 9.10 NBR
I am having trouble with the wireless connection. It seems ubuntu is not recognising the built in wireless card as in
Code:
iwconfig info:
lo no wireless connections
I hve an Acer aspire one laptop. it has a wireless connection built in. it was bought in dec 2008. it has windows xp. It has always been able to use our Belkin router to get to the internet.
a few weeks ago, the router stopped working. it has a red light to show it is not connected to the internet. nothing could get to the web, not the desktop (with windows 7), no iphones, nothing.
I am severe wireless problems with Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop.(Spec below)
I have just performed the first clean install since new. Installed a new Hard Drive as well. The machine and wifi was fine under Ubuntu 9.04.
It is booting much faster now but the wifi keeps dropping off.
Any assistance in resolving this would be appreciated as I use this machine for work.
Hello All,
I've just installed the x64 Desktop edition of 12.04 on my Acer Aspire V3 571G. The wireless does connect, though it can take a while. The problem is the wireless only stays connected for 45 minutes max. before it drops out, and then it continually 'reconnects' (never actually connecting to the network) until I either switch between a few networks or turn wireless off and on again.
Hello there.
