[ubuntu] Quickcam messenger camera not detected

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello. My logitech quickcam camera ID: 046d:0850 is neither detected by emesene nor by cheese.[I want it to be detected by EMESENE] Many tutorials I've found are old or for the ID: 046d:08f6 In the app. camorama the camera IS detected somehow. What should I do to get it working? Thanks a lot I really appreciate your help.:D (Hardware)

i've checked the rpmfusion & livna repo's in hopes of finding kmod-gspca, but there is none.

is there any way to get logitech quickcam messenger to work in fedora 10 or 11? or is this webcam unsupported?

I installed F17-32 from a live CD and installed skype 4.0.0.8 from their tar.gz file. I'm the only user and not on a network.

I found the external Skype-compatible camera didn't work.

This model is a UVC camera. Cheese, Ekiga and Skype found it instantly.

USB problems. All was well last time I connected my camera(Fuji A204) a long while back. Now it is not recognised. Neither is my card reader. I have tried different cards in both with the same result.

USB pen drives and my scanner work OK.

lsusb/dmesg shows the devices.

I did a lot of googling to try to fix this problem myself without finding it, so I'm putting this out there in case it helps anyone else speed up the process.

I have a Logitech QuickCam Express (lsusb ID 046d:0840 ). It's older than dirt. Meanwhile, I'm running Quantal / 12.10 with GNOME. I plugged the camera in, installed skype, and like a fool, expected it to work.

This applies to the Logitech QuickCam (r) Communicate MP (V-UCR45) *and* Logitech QuickCam (r) for Notebooks (V-UBS47) web cameras. I know this has been rehashed over and over (plus it's in the Webcam Ubuntu Help Thread), but someone searching the forums here may find this faster and useful.

Hi all, I just installed F17 on a white macbook 13 for the most part everything works. I had to do some research to get everything working. The wireless did not work, the camera did not work and the fan was running on full blast and was loud! I figured out how to install the wireless and the camera and fixed the fan issue with mbpfan and that brought the noise level way down.

Compaq Presario 1429UK with Ub 12.10. 32 bit + Logitec Quick Cam Messenger. Works fine in Cheese. Cannot get cam to work in Skype.
