Hello fellow forum lurkers,
I am currently running Ubuntu 12.04 and I seem to be having problems updating and various other problems that my stem from the updating one (I'm not sure). So, I'm getting an error when I try to update, I use the Update Manager, get an error, so I go to the Terminal, update there, and get the same answer.
Hi all,I'm relatively new to crunchbang and doing everything DIY (I must say I like this distro much more than ubuntu/mint/suse) and I wanted to know how to make sure I was updating everything correctly. I have no update manager or notifier, and I'm not sure if doing 'sudo apt-get update' or 'sudo aptitude' and then 'u' works or not (pardon my ignorance!).
Here's my geeky tip for updating your /etc/apt/sources.list on Ubuntu GNU/Linux.This tip is especially useful around April/October when the new Ubuntu releases are freed into the wild and the main servers are very busy.I know what you're saying: This can easily be done from the Ubuntu Software Center via the edit > sources menu.
First of all say apology to Ask Duplicate Question.

Hi guys, I'm having 2 issues updating my Fedora 17 server.

I connect to my headless server through a VNC session.
I'm trying to install java jre, i usually do it like this

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install update-sun-jre

I am running an ubuntu/gnome3 environment. While running the upgrade manager on 12.04, I was informed that there was a distribution update but that it was partial. (whatever that means)
After a few failed attempts at updating through the manager, I decide to run sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get update.
I never had problems updating my software, but it has been a long time without updating my Software and when I try updating it now, the Authentification page opens but closes immediately, without letting me introduce the password. So I can not update it because it says it failed.
