Hi,
Go a ASUS Zenbook with Win 8, installed Ubuntu 12.04 tried to fix the Win8 boot option in grub as I would get "error: unknown command drivemap invalid efi file path" with boot repair as recommended on http://askubuntu.com/questions/22183...ndows-8-system (also followed other options but nothing has helped) but didn't work....
I have EFI Windows 8 in my Asus K55V laptop. EFI partition is sda1.
I tried to install Ubuntu in EFI mode and selected separate boot partition as Ubuntu boot loaded.
Ubuntu installed perfectly, but I got 2 boot entries in EFI setup. When I tried to delete it in EFI setup, it restored on restart.
So I tried doing boot-repair, the thing is it added Grub2 to my sda partition.
I've bought new laptop Sony Vaio E14P series. It has pre-installed Windows 8, and I want to dual boot it with Ubuntu 12.10 64bit. I have diabled secure boot and install Ubuntu without any problem from live USB.
When I reboot after installation, it directly boot to windows 8, dont load GRUB at all. So I went to live USB again to boot-repair.

After a clean install of Ubuntu 12.10 the system wont boot. After the BIOS screen I get the message: Error 1692: No operating system found
I ran the boot-repair utility without success. Here is the boot info that utility generated:

Everything looks correct as far as I can tell.

I installed ubuntu 12.04 on my hplaptop dv6000 from a usb flash. This laptop previously had two partition one with Ubuntu 10.04 and another one with Windows vista along with recovery partitions.
So I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTE 64-bit using the DVD. I followed LinuxBSDos guide for dual booting Windows 7 (first installed) and Ubuntu 12.04 (second install) on 2 Separate Hard drives.
I had Windows 7 Pro installed on /dev/sda1.
