[ubuntu] Problems after installing graphic card drivers

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello there I installed 12.10 a few days ago and everything has been fine until I downloaded the Nvidia drivers from the software centre. Now, whenever I boot into Ubuntu, I've lost the side bar and the top menu bar and the screen resolution is much lower than it was (everything looks much bigger on the screen). Thinking I had probably corrupted the graphic card drivers, I reinstalled Ubuntu (selecting option 1 - not to overwrite the settings) but unfortunately, this hasn't made any difference. My graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce 6150se nforce 430. I'm guessing I need to enter something vi (Hardware)

Hey guys,

I'm going through some sort of most weirdest problem here.

During and after installing Ubuntu 12.04.1 x64 LTS. My NVIDIA - 9600GT Graphic card's Cooling fan rotates on the most high RPM and that is obvious to install Graphic Card's drivers to slow it down.

When I install graphic card's drivers, I am not able to boot into Ubuntu again.

I have installed ubuntu 12.10 and my computer has the graphics card:

NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

My screen usually crashes with raster lines, flashing, and other junk on the screen.

What is the best way to get Ubuntu running correctly on this graphics card?

I am using an Ubuntu live CD 12.0.4, but cannot configure my graphic card to get more then 1152x864. I need to se it to 1280x1240. If i go in the display settings i have only these configurations:800x600 1024x768 1152x864 How to do?

Let me start off by saying, I've been trying to run Ubuntu on my custom PC for about 2 years. From 10.04 to 12.04, this problem persists.

When I try to boot Ubuntu from either a USB stick or a CD, I see the normal Ubuntu splash screen.

I have an ASUS g51vx which has a NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 260M CUDA 1gb graphics card. I have installed ubuntu 9.10 32bit using VMware player running from windows vista 64 bit.

I currently have a intel GMA4500X and games run at a blazing 10FPS (TORCS) so i got a nvidia GT 240. No drivers (the nvidia site lied!) so i got a GTS 250 which I KNEW had drivers. it doesn't fit. I am looking for a gfx card WITH drivers that isn't bigger than the GT 240. ATI or nVidia is fine.

I have an HP Pavilion DM3 3020eb laptop with an Nvidia Geforce G105M graphic card, running a fresh Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin install. When connecting to a new Samsung S23B550 23 inch LCD monitor the HDMI will not work and the VGA connection will not allow for 1920*1080 resolution.

I've upgraded successfully to version 12 from version 11. However, I've problems with my graphic card in the graphic interface.

It's 2 year I've started using ubuntu. In ubutnu 10.04 until ubuntu 11.10 anything was Ok with my Graphic card, But when I migrate to ubuntu 12.04 I had a corruption in my graphic card and I paid expert to repair it. It was Ok with ubuntu 12.04 in continuous but when I upgraded to ubuntu 12.10 I'm never able to install my nvidia.
