I've a modem (Model : ZTE MF193A), in my modem's manual book I see that the modem support 32 bit ubuntu versions 12.04, 12.10,13.04.
After inserting my modem in my laptop, then minimum 15 minute later I can see my modem as a 'CD-ROM" in my ubuntu 14.04 LTS. Then I have installed the modem driver in my ubuntu. But after rebooting my laptop, ubuntu can't recognize my modem.
I have installed Windows7 and ubuntu 12.04 in dual boot mode. after installing i have connected my MTS modem(dial up modem) in ubuntu. It worked finely. Wen I booted my laptop in Windows 7 mode, modem couldnt connect and no website could open.
What can I do to alleviate the situation?
The following is the situation:
Laptop: Lenovo X200 Tablet
Dual boot with Windows 7 and ubuntu 12.04
ethernet works perfectly on windows 7. Works sporadically on ubuntu 12.04. Tried getting a solution on IRC channel. No progress on that front either.
I was suggested to live boot Ubuntu 12.10 to check if ethernet is working but the monitor blanks in the process and gets stuck.

I'm new to Ubuntu. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04. My problem is that I cannot connect to the internet with my D-link modem. I've tried using the lsusb command. It shows that my modem has been plugged in, but I can not configure the modem to connect to the internet.
I was using BSNL Wimax internet with a Dlink modem-cum-router DSL2730U. I connect the Wimax modem cable to one of the output [yes, output as it can be used both as input and output] ports of the router and use Internet in the PC over lan cable as well as in mobiles/tablet over wifi. Since the connection was very slow, I took a new FTTH connection.
Hello all, my name is John and I am currently living in china but I'm from Virginia, I have just installed Ubuntu on my HP laptop and I am having a problem with the internet connection. At work there is a wireless connection that the computer will connect to with no problem but at home i have a Modem/Wireless route unit I'm guessing that's called a mini PPPOE?
