http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello~ I'm working on my acer laptop with karmic amd64 version and something really bothers me. My laptop suspends, resumes and seems to work smoothly. But the fact is that if I switch to tty1(Ctrl+Alt+F1) or exit gnome shell(such as shut down), it crashes. All keys seem to be locked, while the caps indicator is flashing. The screen is a mess too. Hibernation works well. I'm looking forward to you suggestions~ Info about my laptop: Acer Aspire 3104 NWLC/Mobile Sempron 3500+/ATI Mobility X1300/1.5 GB Ram (Hardware)

I recently got a new computer, an Acer Aspire V3-551, and so far it has been running relatively smoothly with Ubuntu. The only major problems I have encountered is that when the laptop suspends, I cannot resume my work. Instead, I get a white and black blinking screen, and I have to manually shut down the computer before I can use it again.

hi everyone, I have a little problem with my laptop.this is the way I suspend my laptop: I open a terminal and type "sudo pm-utils", suspends perfect, then I push the power button, everything resumes fine, but if I don't stop kill the pm-suspend command (ctrl + c) the laptop go to suspend again.  there is a way to avoid this?

Running 9.10 on a dell inspiron e1705. It has an ati x1400 and I am using the built in radeon driver. Laptop suspends and resumes almost flawlessly (screen is dim on resume, but keyboard hotkey works to increase it).

I have an Acer Aspire one 5742 laptop. I installed Linux Ubuntu 12.10 on it. I have one problem with it. no matter how I press the Fn+ up or Fn + down keys I cannot adjust the Screen Brightness. It is at its maximum brightness and this drains the laptop battery. I did some googling and found out that you needed to change some settings in the grub file but I don't know exactly what to do.

I have installed ubuntu 12.04 in acer aspire one D270 laptop. wi fi is not working , How to install the wi fi driver for ubuntu 12.04 for this laptop. Please help me ....

Hi folks, I've been struggling to get the correct resolution working on an Acer Aspire 1360 model for some 6 months. Ubuntu 11.10 works fine, except for this VGA issue.

I'm in the market for a new laptop to run Ubuntu 12.10 on -- I have my eye on a very reasonably priced Acer aspire S3-391 with a i7 chip and a hybrid drive.

Does anyone have a S3 and does it work okay... Any known issues?

I currently run Ubuntu 12.04 on a Acer Aspire One, which has constant suspend issues, so I am a little wary to go with the same manufacturer.

I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my Acer Aspire 5742G recently but I can't neither put it to hibernation nor suspend it. If I hibernate it then when I press the power to wake it up, it doesn't show anything on the display and I have to force power it down (by pressing the power for a few seconds), and press the power again.
