I am having problems setting up the 3D Desktop cube. I have done some research myself but haven't yet come up with any answers.
Under my desktop settings on the Compiz Settings Manager, I only have: Desktop Wall, Expo, Ubuntu Unity Plugin, and Viewpoint Switcher.
I am using 11.10 on a dual boot machine, and recently I was playing around with ccsm(compiz manager). To enable the desktop cube effect, I disabled the Desktop wall plugin. A popup came up, i dont remember exactly but it asked to disable all plugins, and I selected OK. My taskbar vanished and realizing this I enabled the plugin again.
Now the unity and all the options from my taskbar are gone!
I just did a fresh install of Ubuntu, and had customized some keyboard shortcuts before installing compiz settings manager. I enabled the cube setting, and followed the directions as per here: http://www.noobslab.com/2011/10/enable-compiz-desktop-cube-in-ubuntu.html
However, I come to find that I can't use my keyboard shortcuts to navigate with it for some reason.
This simple and brief tutorial is going to show you how to enable and setup Compiz Desktop Cube effect in Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal.
First take a look at the screenshot:
To get started:
Go to Ubuntu Software Center, search for and install CompizConfig Settings Manager and compiz-plugins-extra.
Enabling Compiz Fusion On An Ubuntu 11.04 Desktop (With The Unity Desktop)
This tutorial shows how you can enable Compiz Fusion on an Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) desktop with the Unity
interface (the system must have a 3D-capable graphics card which I
assume it has because otherwise Unity wouldn't start, and GNOME would be
used instead).
I am running 11.10 with the MATE desktop environment. I have ccsm installed and I've been trying to get the cube working. I change the settings but nothing happens. I read somewhere that you have to turn of composite and OpenGL but when I try to it automatically shuts off the settings manager. Anyone have this problem?
Install Compiz On The Unity Desktop On Ubuntu 12.04 (Precise Pangolin)
This tutorial shows how you can configure Compiz on an Ubuntu
Linux 12.04 (Precise Pangolin) Unity desktop (the system must have a
3D-capable
graphics card - I'm using an NVIDIA GeForce 8200 here).
am pretty new to 11.10 was trying out some settings to operate the desktop in 3d cube mode thats when the unity bar , side bar disappeared . I have tried quite a few thing to get it up and running but now even my terminal does not work with the shortcuts on the desktop... can someone please help me with what i need to do to resolve this conflict . and where do i begin//
I recently upgraded my computer to a brand new motherboard and SSD and installed a fresh version of Oneiric Ocelot (Ubuntu 11.10) alongside of my other operating systems.
The most serious problem I've experienced is when using the Compiz configuration settings manager. Every time I enable or disable a plugin, the Unity desktop crashes. It's specifically a conflict with the Unity plugin.
