I've managed to do this before under Ubuntu, without any real problems, but I'm having trouble using my bluetooth dongle with my phone.Synaptic says I have bluez blueman gnome-bluetooth and other installed, but when I use "Run Program" to run it, it says "Error: no such file or directory"I reinstalled blueman to no avail.
I had a solid bluetooth connection to my mouse with my built-in bluetooth on the Dell Inspiron 1525. I had installed a game and when I exited out, the bluetooth stopped working. Instead of just rebooting the system, I removed bluez and reinstalled it, but it still did not work. Now I'm stuck without a bluetooth connection or icon at the top.
Is the usb device recognized when you run lsusb in the terminal?I don't do much BT on the pc but I seem to remember bluez and blueman from my previous adventures. Might want to run apropos to see what you've got:[redacted]@[redacted]:~$ apropos bluetooth

This thread seems to have outdated info on getting bluetooth to work? I'm using the latest Waldorf on my hp mini. I first tried using the Debian Bluetooth User guide http://wiki.debian.org/BluetoothUser but that didn't get me anywhere. Couldn't get the bluetooth icon to show up in the tray and hcitool dev command returns no devices.
I am using the bluez package for my bluetooth usb dongle on ubuntu server. I want to be able to initiate bluetooth connection from the dongle to a device, however a device itself shall not be able to find by bluetooth dongle or initiate a connection / pairing.
I am on Ubuntu Server 12.04 and I have a Bluetooth USB Dongle I would like to use. Will drivers be automatically installed (if available) when I plug the Bluetooth Dongle? Which tools are there to check if my headset was found etc? I always only find tutorials on how to work with bluetooth with the GUI ):
Edit:
install bluez package
lsusb | grep Bluetooth
hciconfig --all
hcitool scan
Have bluetooth dongle inserted into the back of my HP Ubuntu v8.10 laptop. The bluetooth icon is in the toolbar at the top of the screen. I am trying to pair with a serial (RS232) bluetooth adapter. When I right-click on the bluetooth icon to set preferences the device, I get the Bluetooth Applet v1.8 (bluez) preferences window.
Hi
Are there any definitive guide on how to get your phone connected via bluetooth to Internet that is already available on your Ubuntu PC?
Nokia e61/e61i with Symbian S60 v3 would be great as for example
Details: there is a lot of information pieces on the subject neither seem to work.
