http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi! I am trying to copy-paste a tarball (or any folder) from desktop to the folder /usr/local and after I make copy (right click --> copy) and try to paste it in some of the system folders (like the one mentioned) the paste option is inactive. Please help!!! (Hardware)

hi all.

i wondering if there any way to copy paste multiple command into single line.

for eg: command 1: go to dir.. cd /usr/lib... command 2:make a new folder in the dir.. mkdir 20121016 command 3:copy into new folder.. cp * 20121016

im using putty to remote my machine, so everytime to backup my folder, i doing this. copy paste one by one command.

The EVO with Ice cream sandwich makes copy and paste very frustrating. I'm trying to copy email notes into a notepad app.

When I copy and paste the text the first time it works fine. When I try to paste it into notepad on the next line the cursor goes back to the last word of the previous line. I want to paste my text on the next line. Why is this doing this? ugh.

Hello! Just formatted my Mac to run Ubuntu purely :D

But I have a dilemma: how do I copy paste? I know I can highlight the text, right click, and say "copy" but that's cumbersome.

The good o'l command-c shortcut opens Dash Home.

So my question: is there a keyboard shortcut for copy/paste?

I am using ubuntu 12.04. When I am trying to copy-paste with my mouse, I can copy but I can't paste. The paste option is showing disabled (the usual gray colour). However ctrl+c and ctrl+v is working fine. Can somebody help me?

Hi Experts, I am new bee w.r.t to GNU Plotter. I written a small shell script which will read a file which keeps updating very frequently [for every 30 secs]. Left-down-clicking in xterms starts the selection of something to be copy-pasted.

Double-left clicking selects a word.

Triple-left clicking selects a line.

All this works under unity in 11.04.

I was able to use the copy & paste until recently the app crashes each time I try to copy something (Any app I try to use the copy function). Besides resetting/rooting my phone, is there anything else I can do? Is there any upcoming updates that will fix this problem? Thanks.

Using precise pangolin. I am trying to copy some folders from my portable hard drive to one of the partitions. The paste button is not working in the destination folder and whenever I am trying a drag-drop with my mouse, it says that I don't have permission to create there, albeit I have the root. Even the new folder button is not working. Help please.

I've just frustratingly spend a couple of hours looking for some way to paste multiple items recently copied in one go. I.e copy a line copy another line copy a link then 'PASTE ALL' I've tries pastie glipper clipit diodon xlip xsel and nothing will do it. This seems like a really simple thing does anyone know of either an application that will do it or a python script or something?
