I have an HP Pavilion DV7-4263CL which as an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6370s card in it.
The problem I'm having is that it is overheating. However, the catch is that it's overheating so quickly that I can't even get through the initial software updates before the laptop shuts down.
Any tips on the quickest way after a stock installation to get the overheating problem under control.
I just bought a HP Envy ultrabook 1002TX. It comes with a Win7 Home basic and a 32GB SSD + 500GB HDD.
I started to install ubuntu and in doing so went and deleted all the partitions on my HDD and recreated them the way I wanted.
Then when I tried to install ubuntu it didn't recognize my HDD. To solve this i typed dmraid -E -r /dev/sdX where the 'X' was my SSD drive.
I'm new in the Ubuntu world. I just bought a Dell Inspiron XPS 14z Ultrabook and installed Ubuntu to dual boot with Windows thanks to the Ubuntu Secured Remix package. Everything works fine except the battery.
I have, at most, 1h 30' battery life. With windows it can last more than 3h.
I recently bought a HP Envy 6t-1000 and am having trouble installing and getting Ubuntu 12.04 to work properly on this Ultrabook.
When I boot up to install Ubuntu 12.04 it will post all the text to the screen and then the screen will go black once the GUI starts up. To get past this I hook my ultrabook up via HDMI to a monitor and I can then go about installing Ubuntu.
I have followed the excellent steps to install Linux Mint (as dual boot) on an HP Envy 14 ultrabook (1030us) as detailed by Raphink (Dual boot Installation of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on HP Ultrabook ENVY-4 1002TX) but am stuck!
I have gone through the installation procedure twice following all of Raphink's advice however my system will not boot into Linux Mint, or Win7, and all I see is a very primitive
Thanks,I tried everything, but nothing worked... My graphics seem fine... The fonts on tty are normal when I use xorg-radeon, When I installed the ati drivers they get all big (that's what happened in Statler) and I don't really mind, but... I still have the problem with the fan and overheating.
I want to install ubuntu on my hp envy-4 ultrabook. I tried installing it through a live cd. But the screen got handed on the very first screen showing 2 icons at the bottom.

Has anyone experienced overheating using this phone? As you know I hadn't had my phone activated for a week or so, and never had an issue with the phone overheating, although I didn't use it like I do now that it's activated. And I can just barely use it to maybe browse the web or send a couple texts and the battery temperature will report 98 and it's even got up to 107 yesterday.
I use Sony Vaio VPCEA23en with graphics card ATI Radeon HD 5145 and have been using Ubuntu 11.10 and recently upgraded to 12.04 beta, however the problem of overheating (60-70) still persists.
I have installed the graphics driver properly. Are there some features of Ubuntu that cause this problem?
