When the wireless icon disappeared in ubuntu, I created another ubuntu partition so I could keep doing necessary work while I worked to solve the original problem,
The new partition works fine though it is small.
How do I get the icon back to my primary ubuntu partition and or how can I replace the existing ubuntu os with the same os.
Some days ago I'm working on windows and decide update something of the system, then when I reboot I see that the grub disappeared and my Laptop doesn't start, and the screen say grub rescue, ok, I say, I will to reinstall the grub and problem fix, but when I see the partitions with the command -$ sudo fdisk -l I didn't see the ubuntu partition, then go to the partition manager and see a big free
I have HP laptop, core i7, 500GB HDD, 1GB ATI graphics card.
I have windows 7 64 bit installed, i am trying to install Ubuntu 11.10 32bit OS. When i reached the partition screen, i chose custom installation. There, i found my HDD listed as 500 GB in one partition. No partition showing windows 7.
Here is what my partition looked like yesterday morning:
[100 mb system partition] [499.9 gb partition for Windows 8]
I ran disk manager and reduced the Windows 8 partition.
Okay, so I split my HD into two partitions, my original windows 7 partition and an Ubuntu partition. I needed to delete my ubuntu partition briefly, but now when I try to boot my computer it comes up with "error no such partition grub rescue." I've tried booting from my Ubuntu CD to reinstall it, but it doesn't work.
I have EFI Windows 8 in my Asus K55V laptop. EFI partition is sda1.
I tried to install Ubuntu in EFI mode and selected separate boot partition as Ubuntu boot loaded.
Ubuntu installed perfectly, but I got 2 boot entries in EFI setup. When I tried to delete it in EFI setup, it restored on restart.
So I tried doing boot-repair, the thing is it added Grub2 to my sda partition.
So I just got a new Asus U47A laptop running windows 8.
Hi.
I'm using a self-built computer running Windows 7 on a 128GB SSD, and I also have a 1TB HDD for storage. Recently, I installed Ubuntu on a 24 GB partition on the storage drive using Wubi. I then made the mistake of deleting the Ubuntu and Wubi folders off of the Windows partition.
I'm having problems installing Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit on my laptop.
I once had it installed on my laptop with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit, but LightDM got weird so I was forced to erase the Ubuntu partition.
I erased all swap partition and ext4 partition.
