http://www.oneopensource.it – In questi giorni, dal 2 al 6 Maggio, si sta tenendo la Ubuntu Open Week, ossia una settimana in cui la comunità può essere coinvolta più del solito anche in quella parte di sviluppo di Ubuntu che di solito si svolge “a porte chiuse”. Come parte di questi divertenti workshop, è stato svolto anche un evento chiamato “Ask Mark”, dove Mark Shuttleworth in persona ha parlato di Ubuntu e ha risposto alle domande degli utenti. In questi giorni abbiamo assistito a qualcosa di quantomeno singolare: è stato diffuso il primo annuncio di Mark Shuttleworth riguardo Ubuntu 13.04, e la reazione risultante è stata quantomeno comica. In preda alla totale isteria si è cominciato a vociferare infatti di un ciclo di sviluppo meno aperto, di staging closed e altre amenità. Calma ragazzi, mi sono spiegato male.

A poche ora dal rilascio di Ubuntu 12.10 il capo di Canonical Mark Shuttleworth ha annunciato al mondo il nome della prossima stable release, ovvero Ubuntu 13.04, che avrà il nome di Raring Ringtail. In qualunque modo la si pensi, non si può certo dire che Ubuntu sia una distribuzione che abbia paura di sperimentare. In vista della prossima LTS, ecco infatti comparire a sorpresa una novità che sicuramente farà discutere. Si tratta di HUD (Head-Up Display) e ad annunciarla come il “futuro dei menù” è stato lo stesso Mark Shuttleworth in un post sul suo blog.
