I hope someone can help! I bought a brand new computer (Intel® Pentium(R) CPU G2120 @ 3.10GHz × 2 with Intel® Ivybridge Desktop graphics), running Ubuntu 12.10. The graphics card has both VGA and HDMI output. My problem is that I cannot connect to my Dell monitor with only the HDMI cable. The HDMI cable goes through 'n DVI adapter into the Dell monitor.
Have a Dell Inspiron 1525 model pp29l core2 duo laptop, running 64 bit 12.04, that is connected to a 47" LG LED HDTV via HDMI cable. It generally runs great as a PC monitor. It is set up where the laptop monitor is off and only the HDTV is on, showing the 12.04 desktop.
I'm trying to use an hdmi cable to connect my HP dv5 notebook to a 32" Sony Bravia tv in order to watch Hulu stuff on a bigger screen. However, Google has been thoroughly unhelpful thus far!
When I hook the computer up to the tv using the Windows partition, it automatically switches the display settings so that the sound and video on the tv are synced up with what's on the laptop screen.
Running Ubuntu 12.10 beta at the moment, but the same question applies for 12.04.
I am running my laptop, with my 32" LCD TV connected via an HDMI cable. The display is fine, but I am having trouble with applications launching on the wrong screen. I have the laptop set as the left monitor, with the tv being an extension to the right.
I'd like to disable my laptop monitor at startup (when an external monitor is connected), but make it available in X.By default, my boot looks like :* Grub2 displays only on my external monitor (at maximum resolution)* Kernel displays only on my external monitor (maximum resolution)* udev (I think) is started and turns on my laptop screen.
I know there are issues with this, but I haven't heard of a resolution. And some of the suggestions just confuse me.
I have a Dell XPS with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M with Optimus running Precise Pangolin.
I've installed bumblebee and the everything works pretty well, EXCEPT for my HDMI port to my external monitor. I use this for a dual monitor with the laptop screen as my primary.
Hi everybody,I'm running on two monitors now, two Samsung, one 1680x1050 and the other 1280x1024.
I have a custom built gaming computer with 2 monitors, after using Ubuntu on my laptop since 8.04 on up to 12.04 I decided to install the same 12.04 on my desktop which usually runs Windows.
The main problem I'm having now is it only detects 1 monitor and treats it like a laptop monitor.
All works fine until I move the mouse cursor on the monitor to either the bottom of the screen or to the right of the screen. It then disappears from the monitor and re-appears onto my laptop screen. There is no way I can then get control back onto the monitor screen.
