Hello,
I've just installed 11.04 on a friend's machine, dual-booting with Windows 7. Now, he wanted to access his Windows desktop from Ubuntu, so I also created a desktop shortcut leading to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Desktop\ or something similar. So far so good.
However, on rebooting into Windows, he found his desktop empty of all files and folders.
Hello folks, I'm just two days old and I have one small issue that I'm sure you can help me with...(solution it's probably right infront of me and I just can't see it cause I'm tired from figuring out the whole samba shared files shenanigans)

DayFolder for Ubuntu.
Here’s what it does:
Takes the files from your desktop and moves them to a directory named with the day’s date in your specified “DayFolder” directory.
Do this from the application indicator in the panel of the desktop.
Change the directory your daily DayFolder is created.
Choose between a daily, weekly, or monthly folder t
I recently thought it would be a good idea to start hiding files and folders and encrypting things. All was going well until curiosity struck me. I wondered while I was staring at my Desktop and I was in my Desktop directory in the terminal looking at the files on my Desktop.
I used Ubuntu One Files on my iPhone and I enabled Auto-Upload Camera Roll feature. The app started uploading 500+ photos stored on my iPhone's Camera Roll, and it created a new folder titled "Pictures - iPhone".
I copied some files to Ubuntu (running on VirtualBox). Trying to open the said copied files and get an error. I'm not entirely sure how the file directory system works, but I used cp command to copy one of the files. Is (and other files that were just copied into the folder manually) shows up in the right folder with ls command.
I restarted my computer, and when I logged back in, I noticed that all of my files that were on the desktop are gone. Instead, icons of all of my home folder are showed on my desktop.
I opened the terminal and found out that there is no ~/Desktop folder.
What happened? What do I need to do?
12.04 32-bit WUBI installed.
I have several in house databases which have access 2003 front ends, either adp or ade files. I need to copy these from my server to every client machine.
In the past I have used a rollout scripts to copy the files to the all users desktop folder.
