Does anybody find it odd that I have dev/sda5 inside my extended (attached)...Is that how it should be?

I had only Ubuntu on my drive and now I'm trying to delete the partitions and reinstall Windows. Somehow my partitions got messed up and my other drive with all backup files is stuck underneath an extended partition. Is there any way to get it and the other free space out without losing data? I'm stuck using the LiveCD right now.
My gparted shows my partitions , all of my non mounted ntfs partitions but the instillation shows me nothing. When I click on any of the boxes in the instillation box it freezes(or the center box where my partitions should be showing) and shuts down the instillation. I get the "internal error" message.
I would like some help. The best thing for me would be to safely remove both NTFS partitions and use that unallocated space to extend ext4.
I have already made a backup and also have the live USB stick to boot and use Gparted.
Howver if you see from the image my ext4 (sda5) is within extended (sda3).
Recently, I could install Windows 8.1 Preview version from microsoft on computer. And I used Boot-Repair to boot loader of Ubuntu. After that I could use Windows and Ubuntu 13.04 without any troubles. But, when I tried to access my NTFS partitions some error message is received.
The issue i'm having is kind of hard to explain but i'll do my best.
I have two different accounts and for one everything is normal when I'm connected via terminal ( ssh, however same results if I am just logging in locally)
With one, things such as tab-auto complete works, I get different colours and I also get my username before the $.
