So basically I have an Acer laptop (5737Z) and my dog took a short walk through my keys. After that my numpad keys stopped working. When the numpad is off they function as arrow keys and some other functions and when numlock on they are numeric keys.
Now they work only in a vt
I have a netbook with F17 installed. No X, just text console. The system boots fine and the internal keyboard works. I can plugin a USB numpad after boot and it functions reliably. However, if the system is booted with the USB numpad attached the entire internal keyboard is frozen until the USB numpad's numlock key is pressed.
I have fully updated ubuntu 12.04 installed on my desktop. The problem is when I turn on NumLock, the keyboard behaves like a laptop keyboard making the keys "mjkluio789" correspond to "0-9". I've had a laptop where such behavior was expected due to absence of a separate numpad.
I have a Samsung R610 laptop running openSUSE 11.2 and gnome. Everything has been working fine until recently my numpad decided to call it quits. I know it's not a hardware failure cause a) it works if I boot out of desktop into pure command line, and b) it works under Windows Vista (my dual-boot).
Hi,
I've installed Karmic on a HP G61 notebook. It has a numeric keypad type keyboard.
The keypad part works when you switch off "Pointer can be controlled using the keypad" in System ? Preferences > Keyboard (Mouse Keys tab) + switch ON numlock.
The keyboard layout for the QWERTY part of the keyboard is not 100% correct.
I did a BIOS update on my Dell Studio XPS 13 laptop and now for some reason whenever I try to use the arrow keys (up, down, left, right) all they do is bring up VLC. All the other keys on the keyboard work fine, including my multimedia keys.
Does anyone have any idea how I might change this or even look at the configuration for the arrow keys?
Thanks!
My mouse is not working properly, So I enabled keyboard keys for Moving mouse arrow using
Universal Access > Pointing and Clicking > Mouse keys "On"
But Mouse Arrow moves very Slow using keyboard Keys. I want to move it in normal way as I move mouse, using keyboard keys(Numlock keys 2,4,6,8). How to solve this ?
I have a couple of questions. I am trying to map keys via xmodmap. I created .xmodmaprc in my home folder and upon restart, nothing changes. The only thing written in it is "keycode 180 = w" when I press key 180 firefox sends me to home page versus typing a w.
I an running Karmic. Recently my keyboard has started behaving oddly.
It does not respond to three arrow keys and the delete key. I also have Win7 installed on another partition. The keys work fine there.
I did,
Code:
xev | grep -A2 --line-buffered '^KeyRelease' | sed -n '/keycode /s/^.*keycode \([0-9]*\).* (.*, \(.*\)).*$/\1 \2/p'
And got the following results:
