[ubuntu] No wired or wireless internet connection

http://ubuntuforums.org – Ok, I have an old Compaq Presario v2000 that recently had Ubuntu 10.04 installed on it. The wired internet worked when it was installed, but the wireless didn't. I tried to download the drivers for it and it failed everytime. I did an update thinking that the update might fix the wireless, but it didn't, it actually made my wired connection stop working. So now I have a newly installed OS on the laptop, and I can't do anything on it because there is no way to get any internet. Please help me out, i'll tell you what you need to know, just ask. (HowTos)

I need help to restore my internet connection on PC after I made an update of my pc last Friday (2012-09-07), I just executed aynaptic and agreed to all updates so I do not know which one was updated.

I have lost both my wired and wireless internet connection.

I was going to post this in the Networking and Wireless forum, but I learned that this issue is specific to the Compaq Presario V2000, so it's more laptop related.

My internet works fine on Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit), I always connect via the built-in wireless, and never had a problem.

So I've got a HP 6735b laptop.

When I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on it, I didn't have any wireless. After I downloaded the drivers via wired connection everything worked fine.

Now I've upgraded to 12.10 and I can connect to wireless, but it doesn't allow me to browse.

Let me start off by saying that I've been working on this for 6 hours, researching everywhere I can find online and not finding a solution.

I just installed Ubuntu 12.4 LTS and replaced Windows XP on my Dell Precision M4300.

Had no problems with connectivity , both wired and wireless connections worked ... until recently I happened to install and upgrade the Ubuntu repositories... after restart the wired connection works but my wireless connection is lost completely ... I use a wireless router at home ..

I just installed Ubuntu on my laptop yesterday and it connected to the wireless fine. Then I took it to school, put it on their wired connection, downloaded some stuff, and now the wireless doesn't work.

At first it would detect networks, but not connect. I restarted it and now it can connect, but it acts like it doesn't have internet in the browser. Wired connection still works fine on it.

I have recently just downloaded ubuntu 11.10 and before i installed, wireless worked perfectly in windows. Now that i have downloaded and installed ubuntu, i know longer have windows. I do not have a wired connection at my house, only a mifi, so my computer is useless now without internet. I really like the functionality of ubuntu, but need internet.

I'm running the latest version (as of yesterday anyways) of Ubuntu. 64bit for desktop, but installed on my laptop if it makes a difference. I had windows 7 preinstalled when i bought it and it worked fine with the wireless from my house and bridging the connection with a LAN to my xbox for Live. Now with Ubuntu I tried the same setup, but I'm unfamiliar with Ubuntu so I didn't get far.
