On my HP Envy dv6-7350sl just bough with Window 8,
I upgraded to Windows 8.1,
then installed Kubuntu 13.10 (64bit).
=> On the Grub menu I got the boot hanging on both Windows and Kubuntu/Ubuntu.
So I launched Boot Repair 64bit for Ubuntu 13.04.
=> Only improvement is with new Windows choices it does not hang but come back to GRUB menu...
I installed ubuntu alongside Windows 8.1 Pro in a raid 0 ssd drive. I had this configuration working once no problems and I could boot into Ubuntu just fine. I had to reinstall now and it broke everything. I can still boot into windows just fine but not from Grub.
I installed Ubuntu using this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xK8X7_tYWmA
But it doesn't show the grub menu when I startup, it only boots into Ubuntu. I can look in my hard drive and clearly see Windows is still installed, so I didn't accidently install Ubuntu over it or anything.
I installed Ubuntu 13.04 over pre-installed Windows 8 (from Dell). I do have backup and recovery disk for windows 8.
The problem now is that the Windows 8 OS is not recognized by Grub during boot; and I can now only login to Ubuntu.
Also, the recovery disk does not find any issues with Windows OS or the Windows boot loader.
I tried boot-repair, update-grub; but it still is the same.
I am very new to ubuntu so please forgive my ignorance. I have installed ubuntu 12.04 onto my netbook via usb which all seemed fine until it did it's first restart and now just cannot find the system at all unless i have the usb plugged in. I need to get the grub from the usb over to the hd but nothing as of yet has worked for me.
