[ubuntu] No USB ports working

http://ubuntuforums.org – I have Ubuntu 9.10 and a compaq presario sr1630wm desktop. I installed Ubuntu to the HD while the HD was in another computer and everything worked fine, but then i unplugged the HD and put it in the Compaq and now USB ports wont work I have read a couple threads and i think my issue is that i have an SB400 controller. i ran some commands and they dont all make sense to me but here they are: Code: chirag@chirag-desktop:~$ lspci -v 00:00.0 Host bridge: ATI Technologies Inc RS480 Host Bridge (rev 10)     Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Co (Hardware)

I have to change my graphics from ATI to my Mainboard's built in adapter. It detects the adapter but give two only options for resolution : 640x400 or, 640x350.

this sounds dumb, but i get no sound.

the speakers worked fine on another unit, so thats out.

no sound on anything... flash video, TORCS, you name it. its completely mute.

I have a Toshiba a215 satalite laptop and when upgrading from 11.04 to 11.10 I completely lost the sound card. It worked fine in 04 but does not show up on lspci or aplay -l.
