This is my first post to these forums, forgive me for my noobishness, and i am generally clueless about the internal 'mechanics' of Linux(i've run Ubuntu on one system or another for around 3 years, sorting stuff out with a judicious bit of googling)
This is a long standing issue that I have had with this build and I have never been able to figure out. When I install a new version of ubuntu, sound works perfectly well (I am currently on 14.04). Then, after the computer is rebooted, I lose all sound controls in the settings menu. The settings menu seems to think I have no speakers, microphone, etc connected even though I have both.
Hi there I'm trying to give sound the same effect my realtek software gives it under windows. I tried a dozen tutorials but havent found one that actually works with ubuntu, has anyone got Virtual surround working on 14.04 yet?
Thanks in advanced, its really good when you get this going coupled with decent headphones.
I try to install ubuntu in a Virtual PC. I mount an ubuntu iso file to the the virtual machine. When it boot up, it asked me to choice a Language, I selected English and hit enter. Next screen, I selected Install Ubuntu. The problem was the Virtual PC window closed down.
