[ubuntu] No lower taskbar / minimized application

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi, I've just installed 11.10, and have a few questions. One: There is no lower taskbar, and I cannot find a way to make one appear. This has its most value when applications are minimized, so if I have three windows opened in FireFox, I can click on the one I need. How do I install this? Two: I would like to install Acrobat Reader, not a generic look-alike. I can't find it in the Software section. How do I install this? Three: Is there a way to reorganize the application icons in the left panel, so the ones I use most often are at the top? Last: I would like to ins (Hardware)

Hello, I have been happily using Opensuse 11.2 (except for the lack of support for Chinese language input, but will save that for another day) but all of a sudden during the last few days something very strange has happened to my taskbar. Now when I minimize a window (Firefox, Ocular, etc) the window disappears. Minimized windows no longer pin to the taskbar!

I installed my Ubuntu 12.04 desktop after a dependency loop hell.

After I re-installed the Unity panel shows all application icons whenever the app is loaded.

For example I can now always see VMware and X-Chat where on every previous install these icons never showed no matter how much I wanted them too sometimes.

How can I put an icon in the lower left of the taskbar (near the application launcher in KDE) that will go to specific apps like thunderbird for example?

using the an old monitor ...I am encountering heretofore strange behaviour

NOT the fault of the monitor

when I minimize a window, it does not show up in a stack above the icon in the lower panel

as in ALL previous KDE desktops

When I hit some unknown key or click on some unknown icon, I see all the minimized windows

lurking out of sight.

Any idea of how to get the minimized win

So Windows 7 has this handy feature when you can pin programs to the taskbar and modify their order. ie. it would be common to pin most used applications to the left so you always know where your firefox is etc. when you open up many programs and your taskbar becomes cramped. Is there any notion of this in ubuntu 12.04?

is there any desktop environment, windows manager or fork of ubuntu 12.04 that permits moving the apps in the taskbar (traditional taskbar, not unity left panel)???? You know, for example in Firefox I can change the position of the tabs. I would like to do the same for the apps in the taskbar.

I tried xfce, but it doesnt work..

I was trying to fix some settings on the taskbar panel and all the tray icons, such as the clock, the clipboard, the search service etc have all now moved to the left side of the taskbar. Is there some way to get them back to the left?

I have tried changing the alignment via the Panel Settings>More Settings>Panel Alignment menu, but that doesn't work.

Any ideas?

Talika is a gnome applet that puts all opened windows’ icons on the panel and you can switch windows using these icons.It looks like the Windows taskbar icons at right bottom of screen.You can left-click on one icon to focus on the windows and right-click on one icon to choose Close,Minimize,Move,and so on.

Hi, how do I add a new application shortcut onto the taskbar/bottom panel (next to kickoff).

By default, the firefox and dolphin are there, how do I add more?
