I am trying to setup up an HP Officejet G85xi printer through an Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive, so that the printer can be shared over the network without requiring that an attached computer be turned on to print. There is a place on the back of the Network Hard Drive to plug in the printer with USB.
Alright, 3 machines running, two using Ubuntu 11.10 and one on Mac OS X.
On the two Ubuntu machines, both have samba installed and configured on the same workgroup, "HOME".
On machine 1, I can see all networked machines. On machine 2, I can only see the Mac OS X machine.
In Ubuntu 10.10, I have my printer, an Epson D120, shared. I can print from the computer itself, but other computers cannot print to it. Both Ubuntu and Windows machines have the printer successfully installed. They can access it, I can access CUPS from all these machines and the the job queue even reports the jobs sent from these computers.
Hi,
I have two Fedora Computers in two very different places. (A LAN is just not gonna cut it). One of these computers has a printer. But I have the other computer -_-; How do I print?
I'd like to just go...
http://198.0.0.293/printer
and voila prints. But I can't seem to find how to set up the computers to do such a thing in Fedora.
OK, so I am a complete ubuntu server newb and I am running 12.04 LTS. I am trying to get Samba 4 running only as a file sharing server with the users on the computer signing in as themselves. I have tried manually editing the smb, conf, but I still can't get it to show up on my windows computers. There are no network problems between the computers, so it has to be the config.
I recently bought a Dell Mini 10v running Ubuntu 8.04. This is my first plunge into the world of Linux. On my home network I have a network hard drive. Sometimes when I log on to the Mini it can see the network drive, as well as the other computers on the network, sometimes it doesn't see anything on the network.
background.
I don't print often but have found myself with the need to print documents over the next few months. I have 2 computers one is my wife's which is running vista. Because I can't stand vista I am running duel boot ubuntu 9.10. and vista.
So having recently set up my server (including some disk space and ushare, and an additional laserjet printer) I was wondering if anyone had any experience of putting a multifunction printer into an ubuntu server and adding it locally (to the server) then to the networked computers....I know this printer works perfectly (the scan too!) when plugged directly into a machine's USB
this thread is a place for anyone to share their first computer momentit can be operating a computer for the first time in a school/univesity or the unboxing of the first family desktop or pretty much anything that you did for the first time with a computer, if you are kind enough do try to post about computers / hardware you have owned over the years, it will be much appreciated.p.s.
