I have a mainly windows house with a notebook running Fedora 11. The problem is that when this computer is on the wireless network it shows no computers on the network. It gives me the error that it can't retrieve the shared list from server. However when I am using it on the wired part of the same network it will see all of the other computers.
I have a Synology NAS with a "Windows" share configured. When I click "Browse Network" => "Windows Network" in Nautilus, all I get is:
"Unable to mount location
Failed to retrieve share list from server
"
Note: This has worked 100% fine before, and I HAVEN'T CHANGED ANYTHING.
Any ideas?
OS1: Ubuntu Server 12.04 (server)
OS2: Windows 7 (network computer)
I'm having a weird problem, and I'm not sure what to do about it. When I reboot the server, then try to SSH into it from another machine on the same network, I get a "connection refused" error.
With my home network, I am using wireless router that is connected to the internet, my headless server, and three other computers wirelessly. My goal is to add a second source of internet to the network by adding a wireless adapter to the server. In this network, the regular computers can not be used since they can't always be on/stable/in range.
Lets say there is Machine A (Ubuntu) in Network A and Machine B in Network B. There is also Machine C (Windows 7) in Network B and I can access it through RDP from Machine A.
What I need is to be able to reach Machine B from Machine A (i.e. can ping it, connect to arbitrary port, etc).
How can I manage something like this?
PS: Network B is a dmz, i.e.
I have a drive (BigMeow) attached via USB to my Windows 7 laptop (WilsonPC) - my goal is to access the USB drive via my Ubuntu 12.04 system (meow).

How do I set up my Ubuntu 12.04 system to access the files on the win7/usb drive?
I installed Susse today and I am unable to join my home network. The network is called WORKGROUP and I don't even see it. The network has 2 Macs, 1 Ubuntu and 1 Susse. All the other computers are on the network and can share files. I also need access to the two printers on the other computers. Please help! I am connected via a Buffalo router via cat5.
I was wondering whether it had anything to do with the network I was using. The router I am using can't access the internet and I am using the basic 192.168.1.X setup with 255.255.255.0 as the mask. My computer has an ip of 192.168.1.2 and the xbox has an ip of 192.168.1.3. However, I am still unable to ping the xbox or even see it show up in the network.
Hi there,
I have a very small home wireless network with a few Ubuntu, Windows XP, and Windows Vista machines. I use DD-WRT on the router.
