Hello all, my name is John and I am currently living in china but I'm from Virginia, I have just installed Ubuntu on my HP laptop and I am having a problem with the internet connection. At work there is a wireless connection that the computer will connect to with no problem but at home i have a Modem/Wireless route unit I'm guessing that's called a mini PPPOE?

I'm having a problem getting a PPPoE connection to work over a wireless network.
My internet provider uses PPPoE to authenticate over the wireless network. My USB wireless device can connect to the WAP, but the PPPoE is where I start having problems. If I try to set up the PPPoE it tries to connect on the eth port instead of the wlan.

I cannot use the wireless internet connection in my house. My computer sees the connection. It is ChinaNet-zbgJ. The password is xutuhamh
The router is brand new, installed yesterday. The internet provider upgraded me and made the connection a bit faster.
Connection to Internet stops when connected to wired Internet using network manager.
Ubuntu 12.04.

Need some information on how to setup the router.
I don't know if it is a standard way, but below is how my ISP provides Internet access.
I have a LAN cable coming in and the LAN connection is configured as follows -
IP - 169.254.xx.xx
subnet - 255.255.0.0
gateway - 192.168.0.1
DNS - some IPs
And then there is a PPPoE connection that uses a username and password and (probably) get
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 way long back back .
I am on a network with PPPoE connection for internet acces.I want to find out my network ipv4.
Example:
-on Windows 7 I can see both my PPPoE's connection ip and local network ip, either from properties of the connection, either from cmd with ipconfig command
-on ubuntu I can only see the PPPoE's ip
I cam across this problem after trying to lookup another ubuntu pc on the network.
How can I ch
The wired internet connection by default is configured properly in Ubuntu installation. We can directly dial-up via sudo pppoeconf, or connect to a cable which already on internet.
