http://ubuntuforums.org – I am trying to run 10.04 netbook live from a memory stick with a view to installing it on my laptop. However although I can see my wireless router and connect to it I cannot access the internet. I have tried this on my laptop and desktop with the same result. I was however able to download Seamonkey browser using the software manager....this also cannot access the internet. Both of my PC's have no problem when using XP or Linux Mint. I have also discovered that if I piggyback, using Ubuntu 10.04, on a neighbours open wifi link I can gain access to the internet. My wifi is using WEP protectio (HowTos)

I have a Desktop which runs on Windows XP and a laptop which runs in Ubuntu 12.04. Recently I have set up a wireless router in order to be able to access internet on my laptop through wifi. The laptop connects to the wifi at ease, but is unable to transfer any data.

Hey guys, i was fed up after i can't connect to wifi using ubuntu. the problem happened after my router is being replaced to a new one because the old one got struck by lightning. good thing i dual-boot my laptop so i can access the internet using Windows 7 now.

i use the default network manager to connect to wifi before, but it all seem to be failed after the replacement of router.

Laptop gets the Internet through wifi. I'm trying to plug a router to the laptop to create a new wifi network. Laptop would bridge.

This is a long ongoing problem. Maybe someone has an idea. I have an ordinary dsl router with wlan at home. I cannot use the wlan under Linux. nm says I am connected (see screenshot), but there is no internet access. I have never been able to connect to the internet using the wifi at home under Linux. Works fine under Windows, but I hardly ever use Win. Recently I got an Android phone.

Hi, I have an Eee900 series netbook with Lucid. Everything was working fine, but eventually something happened last night, with the netbook hibernated, and after an upgrade (if I remember correctly, also including a kernel version, always within 10.04).

Now what happens is that no matter what I do I don't seem able to connect to the internet.

Hey guys,

I'm having a very weird problem with my Ubuntu 10.10 Beta. The internet was functioning properly when all of a sudden, my two browsers (Chrome and firefox) stopped connecting to the internet. After numerous tries to connect, I get internet access for around 10 seconds, and then it just stops again.

The problem is in the title.. I'm using an old laptop to distribute the internet connection.

The hotspot was created easily, and i can connect one device at a time, and use the internet provided by the old laptop. If i connect 2 devices, both of them loose internet connection, and the wifi keeps disconnecting. Is it a hardware problem?

Hi, I am new to ubuntu and having problems getting connected to the internet. My internet works fine if I plug directly into the modem, but if I go through the router either using ethernet or wireless it doesn't work. I can access the router perfectly when using wireless and change settings and all that but cant access the internet.
