[ubuntu netbook remix] UNR 9.10 RC on HP Mini 5101 Netbook - minor problems

view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi everybody, I installed the release candidate of Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10 on my brand new HP Mini 5101 Netbook and wanted to give some feedback. I don't know if this is the right place for this, but it was the first which came to my mind! :-) First of all, I'm really impressed. Most things run right out of the box: LAN, webcam, sound, going to sleep and waking up (manual and lid close), bluetooth and the special laptop function keys (for adjusting screen brightness, toggle external monitor, adjusting sound volume, locking screen and going into suspend mode). WLAN worked after activating the proprietary Realtek drivers. Everything is there to immediately start working. GREAT!! However, there are some really minor things which dont't work 100%. There is a toogle to switch off all radio (to save battery or when you are on an airplane). After toggeling on again, bluetooth comes back immediately, WLAN does not come back at all. There are two special button on the machine to call the standard browser and standard mailer respectively. Strangely, the button for the mailer works (starts Evolution) but the standard-browser button does not work. Maybe there is time until the final relase of UNR 9.10 to address these issues?? But even if not, karmic koala is great! :-) Continue your good work! Yours, Andi (Hardware)
