[ubuntu netbook remix] Ubuntu netbook broken ?

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hey i got my brand new netbook today it sucked with windows 7 so i put ubuntu 10.10 on on it! and well i was updateing it then while there update was installing unity crashed so i hit the power butten now unity wount boot and it says no driver!it auto logs on so i can't chance any thing! it was just working my guess something went wrong in the update. i don't want to re install any one know how to fix it ? unity was really buggy to start it off! so i was hopeing the update would work (Hardware)

My friend has a really slow 2 yr old Toshiba netbook with 1GB of RAM. She is annoyed how slow Windows Starter runs on it so I suggested switching to Ubuntu. Since 12.10 is due in a few days, I'm not sure if we should wait before installing Ubuntu or if we should install it now in order to use Unity 2D.

I've installed ubuntu's 12.10 version on my Asus eee pc 1000h netbook. But I think, it's so slow when it's opening windows or running web browser(chrome) or something else.

After a google research, I've noticed that this slowness might be caused by Unity.

Now, I wonder what is the best configuration of unity for netbooks or specifically my netbook.

I have recently bought a Sony Vaio Netbook VPCW12S1E, with Windows 7 Starter installed on it. I would like to install Ubuntu's Netbook Remix on it. I have made the bootable usb stick, but the problem is I can't find how to enter it's bios to make the netbook startup from usb.

I've got Ubuntu 12.04.1, but Unity is still in the 5.14 version. I have a problem with the launcher tooltips, but it got fixed in Unity 5.16. How can I update it?
