I have two laptops,
One is running Ubuntu 12.04 (EXT4) the other is running Windows 7 (NTFS).
I am copying over 40gb of data (one file) from the Ubuntu laptop to the Windows Laptop.
(Browse the shared folder on Ubuntu using Windows copy/paste)
But I am getting transfer speeds topping out at ~700kb/s Surely this is not right.
I am transferring via wifi on both laptops.

Hi all. I recently installed ubuntu netbook remix 10.04 on my little brother's netbook. For some reason, the wireless will connect at every router I have tried except my home router. I'm guessing it must be a setting or something on the router? The windows laptops in the house have no trouble connecting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

I have two laptops (both wifi enabled) and a wireless router. I want to use one of the laptop on a robot and other laptop to SSH into the first one. My question is that is it possible to connect the two pcs even if I dont have a modem or internet and just use the wifi router? If so how to do that?
Hello friends is there any way to increase the WiFi connectivity?? I'm currently using Real ICS lite r4 and kernal panic.
My friend uses the laptop's WiFi greatly all the time but my st15i can't even connect to the WiFi.. I thought laptops have high connectivity than mobile but his Samsung galaxy ace also connects to WiFi and he can browse with ease(though he can't download).
Hi, I want to know if there is a configuration to connect 2 laptops without a router, using only the wlan card of one of the laptops as access point?
I know this was supposed to be fixed back in 2009 but it's not for me. Here's the situation. I have a new hdhomerun connected directly to the lan port on an hp laptop. The laptops wifi is used to connect to the internet. The only way I could get the hdhomerun config to see the tuners was to set the lan to local only.
3.2.0-35 was just fine wifi-wise. At least I had two 802.11-g laptops connecting to my mythtv and running as frontends without much difficulty.
The mythbox (backend) is hardwired to the Asus RT-N66U and the laptops are 2.4 GHz frontends. One is an older HP Pavilion and the other a new Asus K53SV with its 5GHz-that-only-works-2.4GHz with Ubuntu wifi.
I am trying to run 10.04 netbook live from a memory stick with a view to installing it on my laptop. However although I can see my wireless router and connect to it I cannot access the internet. I have tried this on my laptop and desktop with the same result.
So I updated to ICS few weeks ago but now i cannot connect to wifi hotspots.
I generally use connectify to make my laptop as wifi hotspot, to which my other devices, including phone, connect. On gingerbread, i was able to connect to this laptop wifi, but now i cannot. It shows in the available network but wen i click connect, nothing happens (it doesnt connect), no erro rmessages.
