I just upgraded my HP Compaq nc6220 from Jaunty to Karmic. Jaunty was sweet, no issues at all. Under Karmic, I have the Intel cpu hog bug plus restart just hangs the machine after dropping out of Xorg.I've seen a lot of gripes about the Intel Xorg bug but no solutions - can this be sorted or do I go back to Jaunty?
BTW long-time Linux user, Ubuntu since 6.04.
on a compaq mini110c i used to have ubuntu 12.10, but it is TOO HEAVY for this netbook. so i decided to move to lubuntu. while in ubuntu my wifi worked fine, but not in lubuntu. is there a way to make it work?
I will bold the areas where there is the most important information! Some of this post may be irrelevant, so I won't bore you with the details, unless you wish to read all of it.
This machine is a Compaq Mini 110c-1105DX (netbook), running Ubuntu Maverick 10.10.
Hi all,
First post and new to ubuntu today!
Installed 9.10 (not the remix version) on my netbook but can't seam to get the wireless working; followed a few threads on the net, but to no avail.
Please don't make me buy Win7! ;)
My HP Mini 311 Atom 280/Ion LE Netbook arrived 3 days ago, so obviously I had to try installing Jaunty on it:) The standard 32-bit i386 Ubuntu Jaunty (desktop - not netbook remix) was installed from a Live CD using the HP external USB drive that shipped with the netbook.
Hi. i was running ubuntu 12.10 to my netbook, Compaq mini 110c, but it is extremely heavy for it. All the drivers though worked well. I decided to move to lubuntu since it is light. after a few minutes my system is up and running with the cpu and ram to work at reasonable levels. The only problem is the wifi drivers. i did an update of the system through the software center, but no luck.

Hi,
I'm a pretty happy user of Ubuntu (Jaunty) but I was curious if there are any existing projects to keep Ubuntu from getting to bloated for simple netbook use.
(I see no real reason why a base OS with web capability and email should have to be larger than 1 GB or so on a netbook).
Hi all,
This is my first post to these forums, forgive me for my noobishness, and i am generally clueless about the internal 'mechanics' of Linux(i've run Ubuntu on one system or another for around 3 years, sorting stuff out with a judicious bit of googling)
