Hello,
Since a few days I have a new laptop (Alienware M17x r3); and I wanted to install the newest Ubuntu version on it.
Hi All
backstory: I'm setting up ubuntu on my work laptop for a bit of a change, the laptop runs win7 with no hardware issues and I'm adding Ubuntu by dualbooting.
Any tips to reduce power usage, or even to check the CPU scaling, or limit it manually? Admittedly, I do keep compiz+avant window manager rolling all the time, so I'm sure that contributes to my problem, but my fully charged battery is being used in less than 1.5 hours. The same battery/machine runs for around 4 hours on windows watching hulu et. al.
Thanks
Hello Everyone,
I have an interesting issue that I want to try to solve. I installed ubuntu on my laptop through the one click desktop install. It works as good as I can expect it to, I have an old laptop, and it runs just as well, if not better, than windows runs.
The reason I installed Ubuntu is because I am a web developer looking to start to learn rails development.
I have a little problem with my Kesington Bluetooth Mouse on Ubuntu 12.10.
Ubuntu 12.10 considers my bluetooth mouse battery as a system battery as if it was the main laptop battery (so I have two on the battery indicator, the main and the bluetooth one).
I just installed Ubuntu on my HP Pavilion dv6-6c50ca, and I noticed that every time that I start my laptop with Ubuntu the fan runs really fast and the laptop produces a lot of heat. When I run windows on it, the battery life lasts for 4 hours but when I run Ubuntu, it barely lasts for an hour and a half no matter what I'm doing, even when I'm typing a simple word document.
Hey all,
Yup, my ubuntu becomes slow after running it for over an hour. Especially after watching some videos on youtube. The operating system has also freezed once or twice. Had to switch it off via the power button on my laptop.
Okay, Umm, I created an account JUST to post this question, and I am only 12 years old, so please excuse me if I'm acting very un-experienced.
This never happened before and only started happening recently,
I keep getting these "504 Gateway Timeout" errors and I am sure it is not my internet, I have tested my internet on my moms laptop (Which runs Windows 7) and it runs perfectly f
Hi,
I'm currently on HP G32 running fedora 16. I haven't had a very satisfactory battery performance with fedora (I've only been using fedora) with all of my past hardware. E.g., my acer netbook runs around 4 hours on windows 7, but only around 2 hours on fedora.
