Can someone tell me where the password policy control is?
There seems to be two places to change passwords:
from user>system settings>user accounts>click password field
and activities>applications>other>users and groups>user.properties
In the 'user accounts' option, the screen prompts with secure passwords - if the password is weak, it won't allow the password at all
Dear all,
As stated in the following link, a window will popup for the user to input the keyring password when it is autologin:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu...question/85771:
If you are autologin'ing to your machine, gdm uses su to become your user, without ever using the password.
I changed my password a few months ago from the password I first used when I installed Ubuntu on my machine.
tlinsley wrote:You can bypass that annoyance by setting the keyring password to blank. That can be done through the seahorse application as shown here: http://nullroute.eu.org/~grawity/gnome- … login.htmlAlternatively, delete /home/username/.gnome2/keyrings.
I'm trying to sign in, log on, but I continually get a box saying password. Not recognized. I noticed in first boot up it mentioned password failed, shadow password would be used instead. I don't know what the shadow password is nor how to change it. I've been into user accounts and tried changing it that way but password is still not recognized. My installation.
hi, this is my first post here but i have been using ubuntu for a few months now. i have ubuntu installed on my desktop which is connected to my lan via ethernet. when i click on places>network i can see my laptop running win 7. when i double click on my laptop it prompts me for my password. however, i do not know which password to put it.
I was playing around with "User accounts" and somehow set automatic login. Now, when I start my PC, it just has one button named as "login". Clicking that button, directly logs me in to my PC.
There is no music or no asking for password while logging in.
I am using OpenSuse 11.1
When the computer boots, I come to the welcome screen and then I have the screen with the users on the left hand side.
One user is selected by default, and the space for the password is in blank.
Every time I log in into Ubuntu a window comes titled "Unlock Login Keyring" and asks for some password. The problem is when I enter my password it doesn't accepts it.
What is login keyring?
If it isn't asking about my user account password then which password is it asking about?
I don't want to come it everytime I login. How do I make it go away?
