I've been struggling, trying to get my Mediatomb server to start automatically on Upstart run level 2. I can't figure it out. I guess Upstart is still new to me and I don't understand it.
I have installed Mediatomb to share my music library over my home network. All the files are stored in an external USB drive... After a bit of working I could get Mediatomb to access the external drive, by running it as a normal user.
The thing is that my USB drive it's not always plugged or turned on.

I have been trying for a week to get a DLNA/UPnP Media Servers to work properly on my headless Ubuntu server. I started with minidlna and PS3 Media Server, but had trouble configuring them and could not get either one to transcode files so they could be viewed with a Sony Blu-Ray player (BVD-E770W).
Hi, after quite a journey, I've managed to get Mediatomb to work, between my ubuntu computer and samsung tv. however, no matter what i've tried, I can't get subtitles to work. I would appreciate any help in this regard.
Mediatomb had been working but had stoped one day after an update or a reboot. I portscanned myself "localhost" and saw the port was open.
I have been running mediatomb for a short while, mainly to play my CD collection on the internet radio. The served is a x86_64 running OpenSuSE 11.1
On jan 4 it ceased to work; the /usr/bin.mediatomb file vanished, and eversince I have been unable to get it going. i am using sqlite version.
Hi, I have installed Mediatomb on my ubuntu server as instructed. I can use the Webinterface and so on, but i cant find ther mediatomb server from my Samsung TV. Any suggestions?
I'm having a difficult time with a vlc player in Fedora 16 detecting my mediatomb server on my lan. I dual boot windows, and VLC/WMP detect mediatomb well in windows. I've installed mediatomb 0.12.1 from the fedora repo, and vlc from the rpmfusion repo. Is there something I'm missing in the linux variant of vlc? I'm certain there is no firewall issue as I've disabled for testing.
