I have a Dell d630 with a bcm4311 wireless card. I entered the SSID and mac address of the at&t router and the password and no connection. It doesn't even see the network. From network connections I choose "add" and it wants to add a VPN connection. How can I make the card active and connect to the Internet.
I have a Dell Latitude E6520 which is a Ubuntu 12.04 certified hardware. However the driver assigned to the Dell Wireless 5630 (EVDO-HSPA) Mobile Broadband Mini-Card doesn't seem to work.
When I boot in Windows 7 I connect to Verizon dialing *99# with no username or password but it won't connect using Ubuntu. The windows drivers are from Novatel Wireless Inc 1.0.0.6 if that helps.
Dear all:
I seem to be having "disconnects" from my wireless network where I stay connected but am unable to ping any hosts,
including my router.
I would like to make a simple cron script that checks for this and reconnects.
Is there a clean way to tell wicd to reconnect?
How about sudo /etc/init.d/wicd restart?
Hi there! I started looking into a decent laptop on TigerDirect, and I'm aiming for either a Latitude D630, a Latitude D830, or a Latitude E6500, since they should be perfect for a #! install, as all three have dual-cores, 2+ gigs of RAM, and 120+ gig hard drives, as well as decently sized screens.

At the Verizon store this evening I realized that the reason fewer & fewer phones have an SD Card slot is that more and more are offering memory options up to 64mb (w/o the SD card slot).
Of course you pay triple + the price per MB over the cost on an SD.
Because of the dollar advantage to the manufacturers I foresee the trend continuing till no phones have an SD slot.
