Hi: I am having the strangest problem...I just got a new Toshiba laptop with AMD A4 Vision Processor and AMD Radeon Graphics Card.
On Windows 7, the Screen Resolution is properly set to 900x1600
If i put in an ubuntu 12.04 cd or any other linux distro, it does not go to the proper screen resolution!
Everything looks way out of whack and the only choices offered in the settings are 1152x86
Hello,
I just installed 9.04.
For some reason, I can't go higher than 800x600 resolution. I've seen other threads for NVIDIA and ATI, but I have Intel Extreme Graphics 3D. I think it's a driver issue. Do you know where I can get new drivers or change my res manually? Any other suggestions VERY much appreciated.
Thank you so much!
I have Virtualbox 4.1.2_ubuntur3859 installed on an Ubuntu 11.10 host, running a guest ubuntu server 10.04 with xfce4 and xorg installed with no-install-recommends.
I have installed guest additions, but the maximum resolution in the display settings is 800x600.
I have read related questions:
How to change resolution of the VirtualBox (Ubuntu guest and host)?

I am facing this problem of low resolution in Ubuntu 11.10. Optimal resolution of my monitor is 1280x1024, however in Ubuntu I am getting maximum resolution as 1024x768. I did not face this problem with Windows 7 installed earlier on my system.
Hello,
just installed FC12 but is not able to get anything else than max 800x600 resolution, which is impossible to work with, since many of the sytem dialog boxes is bigger (did the developer ever consider this??).
The first installation was done using the graphic unit on the motherboard (ASUS M2N-MX SE PLUS).
Hi there everyone, can anyone [i]genuinely[i]help? I love ubuntu, but cannot use due to intel 815 graphic issues. i only get 600x800 resolution. i install other non ubuntu distro's and i get my full 1024x768 resolution. Looking at all posts this seems to be a massive issue with ubuntu, some things we can live with but poor resolution is something that is difficult for most.
Can't get ubuntu 12.04 to set pixel resolution higher than 1360x768. Very new to linux liking it other than this lol.
I'd like to ask how to solve this problem I am experiencing this since the days of 10.10 up to current release of ubuntu (12.04). The resolution I had way back 8.04 to 10.04 was the best fit. I have read several articles related to this and tried most of the suggested solutions but was not able to fix the problem.
I have a Dell laptop with a resolution of 1600 x 900 and I have a second monitor as Dell 24". The resolution that Ubuntu is configured in a virtual box is 1024 * 800. How can I fix the resolution on the Dell monitor to get a higher resolution?
