I need to know the best Wireless card for Ubuntu. One that is supported without the "wrapper" and is supported out of the box.
I know that the Wireless-N is not supported well in Ubuntu without a wrapper.
Just got a new compaq presario cq57. I've been trying all day to get the wireless working. So far i've come up with pretty much no results. i've gotten ndiswrapper and the driver for my card, and it recognizes the hardware, but the wireless card is still coming up unclaimed. I've been reading every post and how-to guide i've come across, but they haven't gotten me anywhere.
To begin I have a Dell Inspiron 1520. I am dual booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.10. My wireless card is built into the computer. The card is an Intel Pro wireless 3945 ABG. Currently wireless is work on Win 7 but not Ubuntu. The other day when I started Ubuntu wifi was working great but now when I right click on the networks icon the "enable wireless" option is listed in dark grey.
this is my first post in the forums. I have peppermint os, a variant of Lubuntu 12.0.4, on my laptop.
Ever since installing ubuntu, I faced problems with getting my wireless card to work. The network manager applet would tell me that I was connected with a wireless Port, but I would still be unable to use the internet (Browsers returning "not connected to network").
I am relatively new to Linux and have been trying to use Backtrack 5 but it doesnt detect my wireless card so I cant connect to any wireless networks, I am using a Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC wireless card. I was wondering is there anything I can do like download drivers/patches etc. to make my internal wireless card work, or will I have to buy an external USB wifi adapter.
I installed a copy of Ubuntu on a separate partition. However when I select Ubuntu and it loads, I can't not get my wireless card to work. I have an HP Pavillion dv9000 and I am aware that have a particular driver for the wireless card that they use for this model.
I have a brand new Dell Latitude E6430 with a Dell Wireless 1540 802.11a/n Dual Band, High Speed Wi-Fi Half Mini-card. I don't have the option to connect to a wireless network. It does not appear if the OS recognizes that a wireless card is present. There appears to be a switch on the side for turning wireless on and off, but switching it back and forth does not seem to do a
I cannot for the life of me get my wireless card to work correctly.
I am quite new to Ubuntu and this is my first try at a non-Windows OS, so I ask that you forgive any ignorance on my part.
lspci reveals that my card is an Intel 2915ABG in an IBM Lenovo Thinkpad z60m. I have it set up to dual boot with Windows XP (where the wireless card has had no problems).
Laptop: hp 6735b with broadcom43xx (not sure which) wireless card
The laptop came with Vista and the wireless toggle button works when running Vista. Enter Ubuntu. Proprietary drivers detected and installed, but external physical button remains in 'disabled' state (indicated by an orange glow, blue glow when enabled) no matter how many times I press it.
