http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello there, This is a bit hard to explain so I will try to do the best I can. 1, I have Ubuntu 2.6.38-13 and Win 7 installed on the same laptop with the option that I can choose the OS I want on start up. 2, Ubuntu is set up as my default so I can switch my laptop and and after a few seconds it will load the password screen and ask for my username then password. 3, I believe I am using Grub 1.99~rc1-13ubuntu3 version. Now this is the problem. WHen I use Ubuntu instead of loading first time in load a different design login screen and has my ID already there. When I type in my password i (Hardware)

Hello

I have just installed Ubuntu 11.10 DVD ISO (the latest stable version I believe) and boot from by USB stick.

It has been working OK (except for odd crashes - such as "gnome-control-panel" has crashed on the user account screen).

I booted up this morning, and I was presented with a login screen, with a box saying "Other...".

Hi, I have used older versions of Ubuntu previously with no problems, but recently installed Kubuntu 12.04 onto my netbook, and set the option to login without username/password prompt.

So I Downloaded and installed Ubuntu then rebooted my laptop. From there, I booted up with Ubuntu instead of Windows 7 and it took me to a loading screen, saying launching for first time or something. Then it took me to like a login screen where I then typed in my password then it just stayed at this (see image below).

I could move my mouse but nothing else.

I have an rfid reader interfaced with an arduino microcontroller left over from a past project, which I would now like to use to automatically login on ubuntu 11.10.

I just installed Fedora 16 on my laptop a short while ago. During the installation when it gives you the option to set a password for grub, I checked the box and gave it a password. I noticed a few minutes ago that when I try to edit the kernel parameters during the grub stage, it asks me for a username and then a password. When I set this up, it never asked me for a username.

I just installed Ubuntu in dual boot with windows 7.. I'm new to ubuntu so i found it very hard to install nvdia drivers for my nvdia graphic card.. I tried following some guides, with no luck and now my ubuntu login screen is stuck in a bootloop.

i have ldap server and ubuntu clients ,as they login is working perfectly and no problems at all , but when user change his password he also can login with the new password but he can't login with the old password and the is the right , but if the screen is went locked then he can unlock the screen with the new password and the old password too,

so can any help please ?

I have just upgraded ubuntu 10.04 32 bits desktop to ubuntu 12.04 32 bits desktop (through login into ubuntu 10.04 desktop GUI screen, and then upgrade to 12.01 through the popup "update manager" GUI screen), but got can't login though GUI screen problem, i.e.
