hi everyone
i've download the .iso file and then create liveusb with "liveusb-creator" but
in time of installation it does not booted
-BIOS setting is fixed for removable first boot
-i have windows 7 and ubuntu 12.4 in my computer (computer booted with grub)
any idea?
Finished installing Ubuntu 10.10 in my XPS15, intel i5 4g ram, nvidia GT 420M graphics card,
problem is when i go to additional drivers, the driver listed (Nvidia accelerated graphics) when I install it and reboot it the computer starts on the terminal, no graphic interface.
I have my TV connected to my computer (Ubuntu 9.10) through a s-video plug on my vga card. When I turn on my computer the bios and all that come up and so does grub and the splash screen...but as soon as X loads the monitor goes blank!
I've tried changing the resolution but nothing works. Any help here would be very appreciated.
I've got a problem when booting:
I see the GRUB screen where I can choose what exactly to boot into - after hitting Enter my screen simply shows me that purplish background and after some seconds it shows me the Ubuntu logo with the logo dots in a pretty low resolution (my guess would be 640x480); it then loads quickly and takes me to the login screen.
So I installed Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit in a new partition alongside windows 7 in my laptop with a swap partition and whenever I boot I see the Grub boot screen where I can select windows or Ubuntu.
Now the trouble comes if I select to boot Ubuntu then the computer takes me to a purple screen and I hear the ubuntu drum noise, but there is no login screen and I can't access the terminal.
Hi, I would like to run Ubuntu just from the CD but that doesn't seem to work. I have a HP Computer with Windows 7 currently, I have downloaded and burned Ubuntu on a CD and rebooted. Startup loads the ubuntu GNU GRUB system, but it is different than what it was on my old computer.
Hello,
I installed Ubuntu 9.10 3 days back and things worked fine. I have dual boot setup and GRUB loads properly.
Yesterday, I tried upgrading the proprietary nVIDIA 3D graphics drivers from 173 to 185 (recommended). The installation failed and I didn't think much of it.

I've just tried to install ubuntu 12.04 dual boot OS with Windows 7 and it finished installing in ubuntu. However, it said that the bootloader "grub.." failed to install. The same exact problem here I receive the error 'grub-install /dev/sda failed' while attempting to install Ubuntu as the computer's only OS. .
