[ubuntu] LiveCD vs USB flash drive for online transactions

http://ubuntuforums.org – Should one use a LiveCD or install Ubuntu (or some other distro) to a flash drive for a secure way of making online transactions such as online shopping? I've read that LiveCDs are the way to go, but I wonder how that is true. From what I've seen, LiveCDs usually need like 300+ software updates and they usually have a very out of date version of the Firefox browser. I would assume that would at least put the browser more at risk for exploits. At least with a Flash Drive one can keep the operating system and browser fully up to date with software updates. Anyhow, which is the safer bet fo (Hardware)
