After a clean install of Ubuntu 12.10 the system wont boot. After the BIOS screen I get the message: Error 1692: No operating system found
I ran the boot-repair utility without success. Here is the boot info that utility generated:

Everything looks correct as far as I can tell.

Everything looks correct as far as I can tell. I booted a liveCD, mounted /dev/sda1, and poked around the “EFI” directory.
I recently installed Windows 8 onto a partition that had previously housed XP, and burned a 64-bit version of secure remix and ran boot-repair. I can now see and boot into my Ubuntu desktop, but the Windows 8 installation does not even appear on the grub menu.

I have Asus G46vw notebook pre-installed with Windows 8 and Secure Boot.
I want to dual boot W8 with Ubuntu 12 and use Secure Boot.
In order to actually have the BIOS recognise the USB drives to boot from ( Have to USB boot ) I have no choice but to disable Secure Boot and enable CSM in the BIOS.

Dual boot system, Win XP and Ubuntu 11 with Grub, working fine.
Update from 11.10 to 12.04 runs smooth, at end I reboot.
At boot, Grub menu won't appear, I get:
error: out of partition
grub rescue>
Tried the boot-repair disk.
Hi,
I have a OEM Windows 8 Sony Vaio E-series. Tried dual booting Linux Secure Remix (Ubuntu 12.10) with EFI having followed the instructions here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI
Disabled Secure-boot.
No option in BIOS to disable fast-boot.
Ran Boot-Repair with recommended conditions and restarted.
I've bought new laptop Sony Vaio E14P series. It has pre-installed Windows 8, and I want to dual boot it with Ubuntu 12.10 64bit. I have diabled secure boot and install Ubuntu without any problem from live USB.
When I reboot after installation, it directly boot to windows 8, dont load GRUB at all. So I went to live USB again to boot-repair.
Hello,
I tried to intall ubuntu 12.10 64bit (usb) on my new Sony T series. I disabled secure boot and followed instuctions from: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI
I can boot to ubuntu but windows 8 will not boot and I just get the Invalid EFI file path" error. (I think Bug #1024383) As the instructions said I booted to live usb again and ran disk-repair (paste.ubuntu/1406514).
