I am a beginner with servers. I checked the error logs for Samba and it appears that Samba is timing out when I transfer large files. I can successfully add pdfs for instance to my file server. However, I tried to add a large 1.2gb video file and it did not succeed.
Hello,
Since last month I am facing corrupted Thumbnail as well Invalid music directory listing issue in my I9100.
It is running ICS 4.0.4
I have deleted those all 1 KB files once and after 4 days it get created once again for all photos and music files.
When we open Details of Image it shows 1 KB size and Unknown Location.
Steps taken:
1.
I just finished setting up a RAID5 array with 3 new 1.5TB hard drives using mdadm. I spent the last 5 days trying to get the RAID array working. Everything is up and running now except I have not been able to share folders on this drive using Samba. I can share files in my home directory and on my NTFS drive, but not the RAID array. I am trying to access the shares from a Windows Vista PC.
I'm getting some file loss and corruption on my Win7/Ubuntu 12.04 dual boot setup. I have a large shared NTFS partition. I have my Windows Docs/Music/etc. directories on that file and have the comparable directors in Linux setup as a sym. link. I'm using ntfs-3g on the linux side of things to manage the ntfs partition.
I've setup Samba on a Gentoo server, and everything is functioning correctly, when I try to access files on the server I get a consistent 80-100MB/s over gigabit ethernet end to end. However, when trying to write files, the performance drops severely, to <10MB's for the same set of large files. Samba is serving files off of a JFS partition on a MD RAID 5 array with 6 disks.

I am a beginner when it comes to Linux, and have recently put together a media server, holding all my movies, running ubuntu 12.04.
After following tutorials and forums i can successfully ping, by hostname and ip, my windows desktop box and my media server ubuntu box fine, and vice versa.
I have configured samba to set up a share called Movies on my media server.
