Running Ubuntu 8.4.4 on an IBM G40 P4 3.0 with 512 etc...
No problems other than one.....When I'm using the OS in any state and I close the lid and lift it back up the screen goes blank and nothing I try will bring it back. The only way to get back to my OS is to do a dirty shutdown and restart and hope that I'm not dumb enough to close the screen.
I hardly ever put my laptop on suspend/hibernate, so I don't know how long I've had this issue for. I'm on Ubuntu 11.10. When I turn my laptop back on again from suspend- a blank screen shows up and none of the keyboard buttons/touch-pad respond; only way to recover is holding down the power button to restart.
I want to disable suspend/ screen blank so that the laptop (ASUS F6J running Karmic 9.10) remains on once the lid is closed. I use a monitor plugged into the laptop when I work at home and want to stack the laptop on a small shelf. I use the machine on ac power all the time to am not worried about batteries.
Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit on Dell Optiplex.
I'm using Synergy but I'm not sure the problem is related to it.
The screen freezes after coming back from screen saver. (It's not suspend because
my Power setting is Don't suspend.)
The blank screen turned back to the last screen I used but no response.
Mouse is still moving.
I've been using my Zenbook's HDMI port for watching movies on my TV a bit. Everything worked fine, until I wanted to turn off my screen whenever the HDMI cable was plugged in.
I did this in the settings under Screens menu.
very dimmed screen sometimes
I have reported this error before, but thought that I had it figured out but it was only partly.
I am running Ubuntu 11.10 on my old HP laptop.
When I leave the laptop on power unattended it goes into a sleeping mode despite the fact that I in setting have specified that it should not suspend.
When I try to start the laptop again it starts, but the screen is
HI guys any help with this one would be really appreciated. I have a Toshiba Z830/00G laptop what allows me to control the back light of the LCD screen. This all works fine when i first turn my computer on.
The problem i am having is that when i suspend the computer and the start running it again i am no longer able to adjust the screen brightness.
Hi there.
It's more a hardware problem than an Ubuntu problem, I think, but maybe there is a workaround.
I'm using a HP DV7-1145ef laptop with a HDMI output. I'm also using an external display (HP 2275W) with a DVI input. Both are linked with a HDMI/DVI cable.
I regularly use Suspend to Disk on my Dell Vostro 1520 laptop, so I noticed this issue pretty quickly after I upgraded to 11.3.
