I have a new laptop, Gigabyte P25v2 and I cannot get sound over the speakers. I have spent 6-7 hours going over stuff I have googled and still can't get it to work. I at first thought the entire sound system was not working but one time turned the mic on by mistake and could see the sound bar pulsing with background noise and it would move with clapping or talking in the room.
I have a laptop that is connected to my TV via HDMI and connected to a 3TB external harddrive. I use this laptop combo as a media center for the living room. However currently the sound comes both out of the TV and the laptop speakers. VLC's volume for example controls both the TV and the laptop speakers as well as the ubuntu's volume control.
Hello Ubuntu Forums!
I have a Gateway FX laptop Mo:W6501. I just recently installed Ubuntu 9.10! I love it! But every time I hook up my headphones(earphones)! I don't hear a thing! I went to the sound preferences and I played with the settings! I don't get a thing! But the sound comes out fine from the speakers on the laptop.
On latest version of ubuntu I have no problems getting sound through my laptop's internal speakers, but when I plug in earphones or external speakers it just acts like they're not there and continues using internal speakers.
What's goin down??
I was using Vista (briefly) with this laptop and didn't have this problem.
I am using ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS on Dell Inspiron. I have hda-intel soundcard. For quite a few days now, my laptop sound is not coming from the speakers, and only from headphones. I have tried selecting the in-built speakers in pavucontrol both when the headphones were plugged in and were not.
I am running Ubuntu 12.04 on a HP Pavilion dv6. About a week after setting up my dual-boot Win7/Ubuntu, my laptop speakers began a soft popping sound on roughly 5 second intervals. It's the damnedest thing; the popping will occur at the same volume regardless of the system volume (even when muted).
I had ubuntu 8.10 then i upgraded to the latest version. While installing well upgrading everything went well. Then i had to restart the laptop so the upgrades could take t on my top right handside there is a speaker icon on ubuntu but it slashed out and it says that it does not work at all it's slashed out. There is no sound on my laptop factory speakers.
Hi, I have Acer Extensa 5220. After installing Ubuntu, the laptop speakers began to produce a high pitched whistle noise when I connect the jack for earphones or external speakers. Maybe it has something to do muting the speakers when the jack is in - they are mute but they squeal all the time.
