[ubuntu] laptop compatability with upgrades

http://ubuntuforums.org – Is it safe to assume that the latest Ubuntu release will work with hardware at least as well as an earlier version tested on that hardware? For example, the Packard Bell EasyNote BU45 tested well on Hardy. See: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestin...kardBellENBU45 Should I (1) install the latest Ubuntu release on a similar Packard Bell laptop? - or - (2) install Hardy, the version that tested well on the above Packard Bell. So... I've been planning to buy this laptop http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-...k.27217.0.html and would like to know how it might work with the upcoming Ubuntu 10.04. Does anyone have any experience with PB laptops running ubuntu?

Im trying to brake into the big bad world of Linux and the biggest thing thats putting me off is not being able to get the wireless working on this old Packard bell easynote r1935 laptop

after installing latest ubuntu a message comes up that a propitiatory driver for the wireless needs to be activated, so i did and still no sign of wireless working.

Hi, I have a "Packard Bell Dot/s it" netbook with:

CPU: Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N280 @ 1.66GHz

My problem is that when I go to disconnect the power of my pc, my pc go in stanby.

I have see that on another Packard Bell with the same CPU but N270 this problem do not appear.

Why?

I'm using a Packard Bell Easynote Tn36 laptop, and I'm having trouble with Ubuntu 10.10 and the wireless network card, (probably because of lack of driver). I.e. it is disabled.

How can I enable it?

I've bought a notebook Packard bell EasyNote TS1HR-120IT and I want install Linux(preferably Ubuntu but I'm not sure if it is compatible....

I've bought myself a new pc which comes with a Windows 8 preinstalled and I want to install a linux distribution onto it, ubuntu 12.04 LTS would be just fine. I've tried booting it from a USB (linux pendrive) but it seems the computer won't detect it. It's a packard bell easynote te laptop. I've also tried to install it with a virtual machine but the vm screen went black.

I have a Packard Bell Easynote MH35 notebook. It's about 4.5 years old and I think the fan needs replacing. When running, it makes scary ticking/scratching noises like the blades aren't properly balanced - despite it being cleaned regularly, carefully and thoroughly.

I did an online search and I was astounded to find that the compatible Packard Bell fans cost about 70 euros.

When I startup my laptop (Packard Bell EasyNote MX52 with Ubuntu 12.04) I get the message 'The system is running in low-graphics mode'. My cursor doesn't work and I also can't get in the terminal because when I press Crtl + Alt + F1 I get a black screen. How can I solve this problem?
