[ubuntu] Kernel USB stack?

http://ubuntuforums.org – Just bought a Rosewill external HHD case to load some pics onto an old drive. The manual says I need to download a kernel USB stack in order to use it, but I'm not really sure what to do. I found this site but I don't know what I'm looking for. Can someone help me out? (Hardware)

I am new to Ubuntu, the desktop that it(Ubuntu) is installed on does not have a cd drive yet. I think I have found one on newegg but i am worried that it will not be supported by Ubuntu because it is not listed in the compatibility section. Here is the link if someone could check it out and tell me if it will work.

I plan on building a new desktop that will run ubuntu. I am new to ubuntu, I use it on my netbook, which I have been using exclusively due to my desktop getting old and the video card going out.

Just a short Tutorial today. It’s surprising how many people do not know this. To change the hostname under Linux, open a terminal window. Type the following code. sudo nano /etc/hosts and change the text to your new hostname. Changes will take effect on Restart.
